Custom Closets

Closets have to be different, because people are different. Whether tall or short, young or old, athletic or sedentary, efficient closet designs must address all these options.

I didn't fully understand this until I had to design a home for a 6'9" basketball player, his executive 5'3" wife, and their two growing children, In the end, he needed more drawers than hanging, and her closet was the opposite unless you count all the shoe racks.

This process led me to understand that quality closet design requires decisions in three areas .. function, cost and appearance. The client can choose what they want in two areas. The third area results from the first two. For instance, if you pick Function and Price, the Appearance will be very basic. If you chose Function and Appearance, the Price will go up.

By the way, Appearance includes material choice, floor up or wall hung, full depth with doors, etc.
